A Great Value on a USB Microphone for Screencast Productions

A Great Value on a USB Microphone for Screencast Productions

Last week, I sent an article about creating screencast-based video
productions–successful videos produced without shooting a single
frame of video!

I would like to add a great resource to the list of links in that
article. I recently bought a USB microphone for creating screencast
videos. I found that you can spend as much money as you want on a
microphone, but I found a great value in an inexpensive mic.

The Logitech Model #980186-0403 runs in the neighborhood of $29.00.

Here is the manufacturer web page, but you can find them all over
the web. Just note that the silver based model is USB, the black
has an 1/8″ audio plug. The USB model is probably better for most
screencast applications.

  1. As a follow-up I have since moved on to a higher-end microphone for my screencast and audio production work. I now use the Blue Microphone Snowball USB mic. Look for a link to a review and audio samples above.

In fairness, the Snowball costs several times what the Logitech does. In terms of true value, the Logitech still may be a good choice. I have a used one that I’ll let go cheap ;-)
